We happily spent the afternoon hours on Topsail Island - a destination more for NC locals than out of state visitors - alternating between walking the shoreline, splashing through the waves, and sprawling out in the sand - or in my case, curling up under a beach umbrella with the newest Harry Potter hoping to fend off sunburn. A small storm approached the island in the evening, so we cut our trip a little short, grabbed coffee and ice cream at a nearby shop, and drove home - a perfect day trip completed.
